Owner Kim Urner passed away unexpectedly, on Dec. 7, 2023. Kim was innovative and determined to find solutions to increasing yields for her Ag clients. Being one of the few women in the Controlled Pollination field, she started the Pollen Application Service in 1995, where she co-produced the process of collecting, refining and introducing Zutano Avocado pollen into the beehive's entry and exit points to ensure delivery to the flower. This process was widely used in other crop varieties, such as Almonds, Cherries, and Olives. She experimented with blowing pollen and a carrier, mixed together, using a backpack leaf blower. This gave way to a fixed auger/blower on the back of a Quad for steep terrains. Both blower methods are used today, with results varying from 15-25% higher yields when applied properly. Her legacy continues as her husband Steve continues serving her clients. RIP, Pollen Queen.
